Anghiari Travel Information
Le Stabbielle is about 6 kilometers from Anghiari, an unspoiled walled medieval hill town with spectacular, panoramic views over the Tiber valley. As well as providing essential shopping, Anghiari features a number of good restaurants, antique stores (especially furniture), a weekly open-air market, outdoor evening concerts, and a fascinating museum.
Sansepolcro (the birthplace of Piero Della Francesco) and Caprese Michelangelo (the birthplace of Michelangelo) are both nearby to Anghiari. Arezzo is about 30 minutes away, and further afield, one may make easy day trips to innumerable towns and villages including Florence (Firenze), San Gimignano, Sienna, Cortona, Montepulciano, Perugia, Assisi, Urbino, San Marino, and Bologna, as well as to beaches near Rimini on the Adriatic coast. Rome is about a 2 1/2 hours drive south.
Our closest airports are in Pisa, Florence and Bologna, but since none can be reached direct from Canada or the USA, many North Americans find it more convenient to fly to Rome. When making arrangements, it should be noted that there is a fast and reliable train service connecting Arezzo with the rest of Italy.
